Uber Green App
Improving the quality of the air in Kolkata is a responsibility that we must all take on. West Bengal Transport Minister Snehasis Chakraborty remarked, “I applaud Uber for launching ‘Uber Green,’ a key step towards reducing carbon emissions in our city.”
The company said, “With the app, residents can easily book zero-emission rides, promoting sustainable travel throughout the city, including routes to and from Kolkata International Airport.” The ride-booking company first introduced its electric vehicle service in November 2023 in Bengaluru, when Karnataka’s minister of information technology, Priyank Kharge, ceremoniously unveiled the first green cars from Bengaluru Palace during the Bengaluru Tech Summit.
Its Indian competitor Ola, which has shown success in Bengaluru, said in January that it would launch its e-bike service in Delhi and Hyderabad. By the end of this year, the company plans to increase its efforts and spread its services throughout India. To launch its electric passenger cars, the Adani Group, one of the largest conglomerates in India, is apparently looking to form a strategic alliance with the company the industry leader in ride-hailing services.
