The first electric supercar in history, the Yangwang U9, was presented by BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) behemoth that dethroned Tesla as the top global EV producer. At 1.68 million yuan (around ₹2 crore), it is an electric supercar with great performance that is meant to compete with supercars from global brands like Lamborghini and Ferrari. The BYD supercar will be introduced in China before entering other international markets.
BYD Yangwang U9: Dual-charging technology, 450-kilometer range
According to BYD, the supercar’s thermal management technology, which enables it to function even in hot conditions, has undergone extensive testing. It has BYD’s Blade Battery technology installed, which enables ultra-fast charging of up to 500 kW and assists with quicker cooling. Additionally, it has two charging guns that offer dual charging technology, allowing it to charge from 30% to 80% in under ten minutes.
The EV manufacturer claims the supercar can travel up to 450 km on a single charge. According to its EV manufacturer, the supercar can reach a maximum speed of 309.19 kmph and 100 kmph in 2.36 seconds. The 12-cylinder supercars are not as powerful as this one in terms of performance. The Yangwang U9 has four electric motors, each capable of producing 240 kW of peak power. This allows it to have a total peak capacity of 960 kW. The U9 “opens the era of pure electric supercars,” according to the firm. “The most powerful supercar in the pure electric era, surpassing the power performance of the V12 engine,” is how BYD describes the new electric vehicle.
The U9 can reach 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.36 seconds with its 1,287 horsepower (960 kW) and 1,200 lb-ft (1,680 Nm) of torque thanks to its four electric motors. That beats the official times of a Ferrari SF90 and a Buggati Chiron by 2.5 seconds. Additionally, it outperforms the Porsche 911 Turbo S in 2.6 seconds.
The Disus X full active body control technology from BYD allows the two-door coupe to dance, shake, and jump. To enable you to groove to the music, it even includes four distinct “dance mode” tracks. Twelve sets of multipurpose active and passive aerodynamics kits, such as an active diffuser, a huge carbon fibre rear wing, and an electric rear wing with four speed adjustment, are featured on BYD’s U9 electric supercar.
With DiLink and DiPilot, BYD says the U9 has “the smartest supercar cockpit.” “The industry’s first self-developed racing assistant” is another feature of the EV. The racing helper mode covers about thirty tracks in China and can accurately determine the track alignment of the best drivers in 0.01 seconds.
