The Hyundai Creta EV is scheduled to debut in January 2025

The development of an all-electric Hyundai Creta is a well-kept secret. Over the previous few months, test mules for the battery-powered Creta have been seen on video several times. It was announced about a month and a half ago that Hyundai will start producing mass-produced electric vehicles by the end of this year. The Korean automaker has now provided further details about how this “mass-market” electric car is being developed.

Tarun Garg, CEO of Hyundai Motor India, announced during a recent virtual media sales conference that the business will introduce its first high-volume EV in India in January 2025. The totally electric Creta will most likely come off the same production line as the ICE-powered Creta at Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, production facility. Both vehicles are based on the same platform. Hyundai is using an already-existing platform, the Creta EV ought to be extremely affordable.

Hyundai Creta EV: Anticipated features

According to earlier reports, the 45kWh lithium-ion battery pack that the Creta EV is expected to employ is marginally smaller than the ones that its main competitors use. The MG ZS EV, for example, has a 50.3kWh battery. However, two battery options are anticipated for the Maruti Suzuki eVX: a top-spec 60kWh battery and an entry-level 48kWh battery.

It was previously disclosed that the Creta EV will use the same electric powertrain as the most recent generation of entry-level Kona Electric vehicles sold abroad. This indicates that a single motor arrangement producing 136 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque will power the front wheels. The Creta EV is anticipated to share the same platform as its ICE-powered brother, in contrast to the eVX.
