As one of the most recognisable car brands in the world, a new Jeep needs to appear well. This requirement is increased three times for the brand’s first-ever all-electric vehicle offered in the United States. The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S is already a success in that sense since it is instantly recognisable.
The 20-inch wheels and high, seven-slot grille are standard features, but the absence of a tailpipe isn’t. Neither are the large wing and quick rear glass, which work in tandem with underbody shielding to improve the SUV’s aerodynamics.
Jeep Wagoneer S: Strength and Capability
The Wagoneer S is the first production car constructed on Stellantis’ unique STLA Large EV platform. It has a 100.0-kWh battery pack, 600 horsepower, and 617 lb-ft of torque. It also has full-time four-wheel drive. Jeep claims that the 0–60 mph sprint takes 3.4 seconds, and the company is eager to emphasise that this is 0.1 seconds faster than its Grand Cherokee Trackhawk estimate. (We timed the Trackhawk and it came in at 3.3 seconds.) The Wagoneer S can be charged with a DC fast charger from 20 to 80 percent using a 400-volt system in an amazing 23 minutes.
The Wagoneer S has five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow, and Sand. This SUV isn’t allowed to be alarmed by poor traction or bad weather because it’s still a Jeep. According to Jeep, the battery box’s integration helped the body’s torsional stiffness increase by 35% over that of earlier midsize Jeep models, resulting in a quieter, more comfortable ride. If you think the Wagoneer S is too sleek, Jeep has previously unveiled the Trailhawk, an off-road-focused variant that is more affordable. Although it is still a concept car, it appears to be feasible for production and would match the Trailhawk off-road trim levels found on the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Renegade SUVs.
The first model in the lineup is the Launch Edition, which comes equipped with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof as standard, satin-painted accent trim, and darker accent cues. Interestingly, there isn’t any chrome at all. Starting in the autumn, dealers will be able to purchase the Launch Edition Wagoneer S for $71,995. Although Jeep hasn’t disclosed pricing or other trim options, the Wagoneer S is now vying with the Tesla Model Y Performance.
