Maruti Suzuki, the biggest automaker in India based on sales, has begun testing the Maruti eVX, the country’s first entirely electric vehicle. The YY8 skateboard, a version of Toyota’s 27PL platform, serves as its foundation. In India, the Maruti eVX is anticipated to debut in 2025. A version with the Toyota logo will also be available.
Maruti eVX: Interiors unveiled
Maruti eVX test mules have been sighted several times in recent months. The electric SUV’s cockpit is visible in the most recent spy video. Even though the interiors are heavily camouflaged and a work in progress, several elements are still visible. An electronic parking brake and a rotary gear selector dial are two examples.
The driver and front passenger areas are clearly divided by the rather wide middle space. Maruti eVX will provide a selection of high-end gear. The sizable touchscreen, which seems to be an integrated infotainment and instrument screen, is noticeable. The steering wheel’s flat bottom is another important element.
The roomy interior should provide enough headroom and legroom for every passenger. The eVX may receive amenities including a head-up display, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, motorized driver’s seat, and a panoramic sunroof, according to the equipment list seen with new-generation Maruti vehicles.
Maruti eVX: Bold styling, ADAS
including other small SUVs, including the Creta and Seltos, the Maruti eVX has an athletic, dynamic design. It looks to be fairly wide, which could guarantee rear passengers the best shoulder room available. Test mules conceal all of the finer characteristics, thanks to their extensive camouflage. A flat, closed-off grille, ice-cube LED DRLs, and standard headlight arrangement are the only things that stand out. The front left quarter panel contains the charging port.
Maruti eVX features big alloy wheels and rear door handles positioned on the C-pillar. Temporary lighting devices are visible despite the rear part being heavily concealed. The SUV features a robust rear bumper, a noticeable spoiler, and a shark fin antenna. It’s feasible that eVX will receive an integrated LED tail light system. In terms of technological characteristics, ADAS and a 360° camera are anticipated for eVX.
Maruti eVX: Specifications, Engine
The Maruti eVX will have all-four-disc brakes for increased safety. It is anticipated that the SUV will come in two variants: regular and long-range, with 45 and 60 kWh of batteries, respectively. Options for AWD with a single motor or two motors could be available. Expect a range of about 550 kilometers.
When it launches, the Maruti eVX will go up against the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE.05, and Citroen eC3 Aircross, among other future models. Maruti has a market share of over 40% in the ICE class, so it would be fascinating to watch how it does in the EV market.
