Tata’s focus for EV showroom growth is on Tier 1 and 2 cities

Tata Motors‘ expansion into both tier 1 and tier 2 cities is expected to result in the company making notable progress in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. By the end of the upcoming year, the car giant wants to open EV showrooms in the majority of these cities. This strategic decision is in line with the present spike in EV demand from these urban areas.

Tata’s growth strategy in the EV market

Tata aims to provide a seamless and customer-focused experience by expanding its dealership network and setting up specialised service centres for its electric vehicle (EV) range. With this project’s help, new showrooms can easily transition into fully functional 3S (Sales, Service, and Spares) centres by offering comprehensive service options.

A big step in this direction was recently made with the opening of Tata’s first two unique EV showrooms in Gurugram on December 21. The style and arrangement of these specialised showrooms are different from that of conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) showrooms. Tata Motors intends to run these showrooms entirely without the use of paper in an inventive and environmentally responsible manner.

To prepare for the spike in EV sales, Tata Motors is putting in place a special standard for hiring and developing staff for these specialised showrooms. In addition to bringing about changes in technology, the move towards electric mobility also affects how these showrooms run and meet the changing needs of consumers who buy electric vehicles.

Popular EV vehicles from Tata include the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV. With the release of four new models, the firm plans to expand its electric lineup: the Harrier/Safari EV, Punch EV, Sierra EV, and Curvv EV. These vehicles are anticipated to go on sale in 2024 and 2025.

The development of EV showrooms and the establishment of specialised service centres reflect a strategic move towards supporting the adoption of electric vehicles in the Indian automotive landscape, as Tata Motors focuses on improving accessibility and service excellence.
