JLR has teased the long-anticipated all-electric Range Rover, and a waiting list has been established for those who wish to be among the first to be able to pre-order the car. Testing of the prototype is now in progress, and the whole design will soon be made public.
Range Rover EV features and appearance
Although JLR has not provided many details about the Range Rover Electric’s appearance, the EV is expected to maintain the ICE Range Rover’s lines. The Range Rover Electric has flush body-colored door handles and the same vertical tail lamp as its ICE sister. It has a charging port with LED strips to show the charge level in place of the fuel lid. Subtle EV-specific modifications include the addition of an EV hubcap to the alloy wheels.
Range Rover EV information and specifications
The 800-volt architecture of the Range Rover EV allows for quick battery charging on public networks. It has a special active road noise reduction feature that isolates the cabin from the outside environment. According to Range Rover, the electric SUV will be sold alongside the ICE, mild-hybrid, and strong-hybrid models and will perform similarly to the V8 Range Rover V8.
To evaluate the Range Rover Electric prototype’s resilience to harsh weather conditions, geographical variations, and even 850mm of water, testing has started in extremely hot conditions. According to JLR, the Range Rover Electric has received more patent applications than any other Range Rover model.Â
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV and the Range Rover Electric will be rivals, but it will be intriguing to see if the latter can provide the same cherished Range Rover experience.
