New Mahindra XUV400 Caught Testing For The First Time

Early in 2023, the Mahindra XUV400 was unveiled, the company’s first long-range electric SUV. Given that the Mahindra XUV300, its internal combustion engine (ICE) equivalent, is scheduled for a midlife refresh in 2024, it appears Mahindra has also planned one for the EV, as evidenced by the first appearance of its test mule.

What Makes This Mahindra XUV400 Different?

The updated grille, which appears to have kept the copper components unique to the Mahindra EV cars, is among the first things you will notice about the spy model. It now features split headlights, a fang-shaped LED DRL, and the same split grille arrangement as the facelifted XUV300 test mules. The BE series EVs from Mahindra appear to have influenced the design.

The new alloy wheels are the only noticeable change on the test mule’s profile, as it is heavily camouflaged. The 2024 XUV400 is anticipated to receive the same improvements as the XUV300, including the linked LED taillights, albeit there isn’t a spy photo of the back of the vehicle.

Features of The Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra may provide the facelifted XUV400 with a modern dashboard to update the cabin, even though there isn’t a picture of the interior yet. Larger displays and new seat upholstery are also probably on the horizon. It is anticipated that the revised XUV400 will receive the same feature upgrades as the Mahindra XUV300 from 2024, including wireless phone charging and ventilated front seats. It’s likely that existing features like the auto air conditioning, single-pane sunroof, and linked car technology will stay in place.

Safety elements including six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, and maybe advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) could be added by Mahindra to the facelifted electric SUV.

How Are The Range And Battery?

We anticipate significantly better range numbers from the new Mahindra XUV400, even though it will probably retain the same battery pack options (34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh) as the present model. The stated range of the XUV400 is now 375 km and 456 km, respectively. The 150 PS/310 Nm electric motor is the same for both battery pack types.

Expected Price of The Mahindra XUV400

Arriving in 2024, most likely in the second half after the launch of the facelifted XUV300, is the facelifted Mahindra XUV400. The present model, which retails for between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), may come with a slight price increase. It will still compete with the Tata Nexon EV and offer a more cost-effective option than the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV.
