Tata Avinya EV will be built on the EMA platform from JLR

Together, Tata Motors and its luxury division Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) are bringing us something really exciting. JLR and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) share an Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform. Starting with the Avinya, this platform will serve as the basis for the upcoming generation of all-electric automobiles.

Tata’s Avinya to use EMA platform

The EMA platform is unique because of its careful attention to passenger comfort, interior space, cutting-edge electrical and electronic architecture, seamless communication, and an advanced software suite with over-the-air updates. It’s a technological marvel that embraces the future of transportation, not just a platform for cars.

With the integration of cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), excellent performance, uncompromising refinement, and a full safety suite, Tata’s “Avinya” concept aims to provide an incomparable in-cabin experience. With Tata’s Avinya series working with Jaguar Land Rover on the EMA platform, the luxury electric vehicle market is expected to see significant worldwide competition.

“Avinya represents our vision for a new paradigm in personal mobility and stands for innovation,” stated Anand Kulkarni, Chief Product Officer and Head of HV Programs at TPEM. Avinya, with its architecture including the most recent developments in software, artificial intelligence, and new-age technology, will give rise to a new generation of highly efficient and long-range electric vehicles that will set worldwide standards.

In addition to furthering the cause of electric vehicles, Tata Motors is strategically entering the high-end EV market with this partnership while expediting the development process. Tata’s shift to a Gen 3 pure EV architecture will happen more quickly thanks to the integration of technologies like Software Over The Air (SOTA), Features Over The Air (FOTA), and high-performance ultrafast charging.

Tata Motors is well-positioned to subsequently localize the EMA architecture in India, guaranteeing reasonable prices while maintaining a premium posture for the Avinya series. Production of EMA-based vehicles will begin in late 2024 at JLR’s Halewood facility in the UK. This significant move could lead to the development of a prestigious, next-generation EV family and is evidence of Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover’s common goal.
