Tata Punch EV will use the Nexon facelift’s 10.25-inch infotainment screen and steering wheel

Around one month after the highly improved Nexon EV goes on sale on September 14, Tata Motors will reveal the Tata Punch EV’s price. While there won’t be any significant cosmetic changes made to the Punch EV, there will be a number of feature updates, the majority of which come from the Nexon EV facelift.

What do the spy photos show about the Tata Punch EV?

We observed the Punch EV test mule traveling at approximately 100 kph on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway as it completed road testing prior to its market debut. The test mule appeared to be a nearly finished product containing components that would be used in the finished product.

First off, unlike the conventional Punch powered by gasoline, the spy photo’s Punch EV has an LED headlamp setup. Second, a quick glance inside revealed a considerably larger, horizontally oriented infotainment screen in addition to the brand-new steering wheel that resembled a Nexon and included an illuminated emblem.

We anticipate higher variations of the Punch EV to have the larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen that Tata Motors just introduced for the Nexon EV makeover. The Nexon EV also has a 10.25-inch infotainment screen for the mid-variants. The Citroen eC3, which directly competes with the Punch EV, has an infotainment screen that is comparable in size.

Will the Tata Punch EV have a sunroof?

Tata Motors has recently added sunroofs to certain of the Punch petrol models, but it is unclear if they will also be added to the Punch EV. Its immediate opponent, the Citroen eC3, does not have a sunroof, making it the most affordable electric vehicle in India if it is equipped with one.

The Punch EV will also include Tata’s Ziptron motor, as we’ve previously reported, and will be the first EV from the automaker to feature a charging plug on the front bumper. Along with new alloy wheels and disc brakes on all four wheels as standard, there will also be some aesthetic changes.

Range and powertrain for the Tata Punch EV

The Punch EV will be based on Tata’s Gen-2 EV architecture, which is essentially an ICE to EV conversion with significant changes, and the ALFA platform. The front wheels will be driven by a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a liquid-cooled battery, respectively. Tata Motors may sell the Punch EV with two alternative battery sizes and charging choices, similar to the Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon EVs.

Rivals of Tata Punch EV

In the Indian market, the Punch EV will compete against the Citroen eC3. It will be placed above the Tiago EV hatchback and below the Nexon EV MR. According to sources, it will be marketed as an SUV alternative to the Tigor EV sedan, whose XPRES-T EV fleet now accounts for the majority of its sales.
