Honda e:Ny1 will be the company’s second and most stylish B-segment SUV

Honda has introduced its second fully electric vehicle, the Honda e:Ny1, at a prestigious event held in Offenbach, Germany. This latest addition follows the highly acclaimed Honda e city car and addresses the growing demand for electric B-segment SUVs in the market.

With its fresh and distinctive design, coupled with advanced technology, the e:Ny1 embodies Honda’s human-centred development philosophy. The SUV harnesses the capabilities of its fully electric powertrain to deliver an exhilarating driving experience, smooth and refined rides, and exceptional versatility.

The Honda e:Ny1 showcases a bold and sophisticated exterior aesthetic, featuring a short front overhang, large wheels, and a wide track.

Notably, it introduces a new electric identity for Honda, with the presence of white ‘H’ badges adorning the vehicle, including the nose badge, wheel centre caps, and steering wheel. Additionally, the tailgate features a new typeface spelling out ‘Honda,’ imparting a premium look that will extend to future Honda electric vehicles.

Inside the Honda e:Ny1, ingenious packaging of the electric drivetrain components maximizes interior space and comfort. The all-new centre console boasts a streamlined layout with easily accessible buttons, multiple storage options, and wireless charging capabilities. Meanwhile, an uncluttered dashboard crowned by a large 15.1-inch touchscreen grants access to a comprehensive suite of infotainment and driving features.

Underpinning the Honda e:Ny1 is Honda’s newly-developed e:N Architecture F platform, tailored specifically for front-motor-driven electric vehicles. This platform is built upon three key principles: a dedicated high rigidity body structure, a low centre of gravity, and meticulous management of under-floor aerodynamics. Together, they contribute to the SUV’s spirited and confident driving dynamics.

The Honda e:Ny1 is equipped with a high-performance, lightweight three-in-one integrated power drive unit, electric motor, and gearbox. This powertrain generates a maximum output of 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque, ensuring seamless and comfortable acceleration and deceleration.

The SUV is powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery positioned beneath the floor, allowing for an impressive range of up to 412 km (WLTP). Furthermore, the e:Ny1 supports DC fast-charging, enabling a remarkable 10% to 80% charge in just 45 minutes.

Honda has also developed a brand-new chassis specifically tailored for electric vehicles, delivering enhanced torsional rigidity. This achievement is attributed to the extensive use of high-tensile steel, which constitutes 47% of the e:Ny1’s body weight. Together with the new platform and powertrain, these features combine to offer exceptional driving performance, remarkable comfort, and the refined experience that drivers have come to expect from Honda’s latest electric vehicle offering.
