Hero Electric launches its new range of e-scooters in India

One of the nation’s most well-known manufacturers of electric scooters is Hero Electric. Three new electric scooters have been introduced by the company to spruce up its lineup with connected technology. The Optima CX2.0, which has a single battery, the Optima CX5.0, which has two batteries, and the NYX are the three scooters.

New technology like LED lights and DRLs come along with a stylish new design that significantly improves Hero Electric’s previous utilitarian design language. The CX2.0’s claimed range with a single battery is 89 km, while the CX5.0 and NYX’s claimed range with dual batteries is 113 km. According to the company, the battery can be fully charged in just three hours.

With Japanese motors and German ECUs, as well as connected features like “hibernating battery technology” and improved charging efficiency, Hero Electric proudly advertises the global nature of the scooters.

At the launch, Naveen Munjal, MD of Hero Electric, said, “After 15 years of unwavering commitment towards building India’s electric vehicle ecosystem, we are fully dedicated to realizing the country’s electric mobility mission. Our continuous efforts are focused on bringing this vision to life sooner rather than later. Each of our products has undergone an exhaustive R&D process with a primary focus on ensuring customer safety. In tandem with this, we have also worked closely with our partners to cater to the surging demand for EVs in the country. As a result, we are proud to announce that we are all set to roll out over 1 million vehicles annually from our manufacturing units.”

The matte blue and black colour options for the CX2.0 will be available, while the matte blue and matte maroon colour options for the CX5.0. The NYX, on the other hand, will only come in glossy black and white. The cost of the brand-new Hero e-scooters ranges from $85,000 to $1.3 lakh.

It’s interesting to note that Hero Electric and Okinawa no longer receive FAME-2 subsidies thanks to the Indian government. SOPs for the EV policy have been suspended, according to the Minister of Heavy Industries, pending receipt of sufficient documentation from the companies demonstrating their compliance with PMP timelines. Both businesses import parts for electric scooters from China, indicating that they have not sufficiently localised their products to qualify for the FAME subsidy.
