MG Motor intends to launch the MG 4 electric hatchback in India soon. According to media rumours, the MG 4 EV, Air EV, and MG Hector makeover would be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. The MG 4 EV has already been released in Europe and competes worldwide with the Kia Niro and the Volkswagen ID.3.
The MG 4 EV has a length of 4,287 mm, which is about 36 mm shorter than the ZS EV. Furthermore, the MG 4 EV has a 120 mm longer wheelbase than the ZS EV.
The MG 4 electric hatchback will be powered by two battery options based on the SAIC’s scalable platform – a 51 kWh and a 64 kWh. The former has a power output of 170 bhp, while the latter has a peak power output of 203 bhp. It has a single rear-wheel drive motor. The EV comes with a 7 kWh charger and can charge at speeds of up to 150 kW.
MG claims that the WLTP range of the MG 4 EV with 64 kWh battery pack is 452 kilometres. The electric hatchback will be outfitted with a 7-inch MID, a 10.25-inch central infotainment system, heated front seats, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. The MG 4 EV will have an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite for safety.
The outside of the electric hatchback features all-LED lighting, a dynamic roofline, dual-tone alloy wheels, and body cladding that gives it an SUV appearance. The MG 4 EV price is unknown, but we may expect it to enter the Indian market via the CBU or CKD route. When it is released in India, it will compete alongside the BYD Atto 3, the Mahindra XUV400, and the Hyundai Kona EV.
