The S1 Air, a freshly released base model in the Ola Electric scooter lineup, the S1 standard, a mid-range model, and the S1 Pro, the most expensive model with all the bells and whistles. Ola Electric is planning to dominate the Indian market for electric automobiles by aggressively expanding. Ola Electric has made public its intention to introduce electric vehicles as well. This only required a few years for development.
If Ola succeeds, it will be a remarkable achievement. We’ve already seen teasers for the allegedly fastest car ever produced in India, an electric vehicle. With its S1 portfolio, the business now asserts that it has outsold all ICE scooter sales combined.
By August 2023, according to CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, the Ola S1 range would overtake the competition as the most popular scooter in India. He goes on to say that sales of the Ola S1 lineup will even top those of the top-selling ICE scooters.
Ola Electric has made a rather bold claim here. However, Ola has a history of making exaggerated statements. Additionally, they have a history of delivering on the majority of their promises.
Ola is in a position to perhaps pull it off because of a considerable increase in production capacity.
According to the objective, the Honda Activa is the best-selling ICE scooter in India right now and is probably going to hold onto that title through August 2023. Ola appears to have Activa in mind while determining its aim.
In September 2022, 2.45 lakh Honda Activa automobiles were sold. Ola sold a total of only 9,649 units in the same month. Ola would need to ascend higher than the summit of Everest to accomplish anything similar, judging by the disparity. Ola is confident about its future development in India now that the base S1 Air is priced at roughly Rs. 85K.
Honda will have entered the market for EVs with swappable battery technology by August 2023. This will probably cause many ICE Activa customers to switch to the new electric Honda Scooter. As a result, ICE Activa sales may suffer and potentially drop by half from the 2.1 lakh units they sold in October 2022. Ola is currently at the fore in the movement to make EVs more widely used.
Ola can surpass the highest selling ICE scooter sales in August 2023 if the current winning streak continues and Honda’s future electric scooter devours ICE Activa sales.
As of the right moment, Activa sales are unparalleled and vastly outpace those of other top-selling scooters. Sales of the Activa alone in September 2022 were nearly equal to those of the second- through ninth-best-selling scooters combined. Currently, Ola’s fleet consists of 3 electric scooters. The entry-level S1 Air costs Rs. 85,000, the S1 costs Rs. 1 lakh, and the S1 Pro costs Rs. 1.4 lakh. For Rs. 999, S1 Air can be reserved; delivery will start in 2023.
