Jeep Classic debut their Electric SUV concept design

From 1944 to 1986, the Jeep Classic was in production. It was what made the current Wrangler possible. The Jeep Wrangler of today is the spiritual heir to the Jeep CJ Classic of the previous century. At the SEMA Show in 2022, the Classic Jeep SUV has now sort of made a reappearance.

At the SEMA Show 2022, the Jeep CJ Surge Concept is now on show. It was created by Mopar, a performance and accessories company that belongs to Stellantis. According to Mopar, this is a vision for upcoming propulsion systems for enthusiasts to convert both current and historic cars into electric vehicles. We deem the Jeep CJ Surge Concept to be a job well done after taking a closer look.

a massive V8 lump of an engine that can pull a cow and has a 7L or 8L displacement? No, actually. Contrary to many American products, this build has sensibility. This Jeep CJ Surge Concept is a battery-powered automobile. Its boot has a battery pack, while its hood houses special motor mounts (not calling it a bonnet, coz it is American).

In the long run, Mopar came up with a pretty smart idea with this one, and it needs to be put into production right away. The second-largest automotive market in the world is in America. In America, the culture of car modification is almost automatic. It’s not uncommon to purchase a historic car and install a Chevy LS1 engine or a motor identical to it.

The 400V scalable electric drive module for the Jeep CJ Surge Concept EV can produce 268 horsepower. This motor has a 2-speed transfer case with variable gearing to drive all 4 wheels.

This motor is powered by a battery pack made up of 24 Li-ion battery modules, each of which has a capacity of up to 50 kWh. Of course, it receives a 2″ lift-kit. We have Dana 44 Crate axles by Jeep Performance Parts to increase its versatility. Large 35″ BF Goodrich AT tyres give the Jeep CJ Surge Concept a lot of presence. Its donor Jeep’s core remains untouched, and Mopar has even improved it.

Bumpers from a Wrangler JK Rubicon, a Warn winch, LED headlamps, and more are seen. The interior is also updated, and a central console from a Wrangler JK Rubicon is used. This Jeep is properly vintage but still contemporary thanks to the addition of custom seats, a roll cage, and a trimmed windscreen. The Jeep CJ Surge Concept is easily recognisable as a Jeep from a distance thanks to its Surf Blue and Copper Canyon accents.
